The Ian Brown Award

The Ian Brown Award is given each year to the individual who, in the view of the Branch Chairman, has made an outstanding contribution to the success of the Branch during the year. It was first given in 1991 following a proposal by Committee Member Linda Jones that an annual award should be instituted in memory of Ian. Anne Brown, Ian’s widow, presented the first award.

J D “Ian” Brown, who died in 1990, was Honorary Secretary of the Royal Aeronautical Society Heathrow Branch from 1982-87 and Secretary of the Joint Branch from 1987-90. He was briefly Chairman of the Branch in 1990-91 before his untimely death during his year of office.
