‘An Insight Into the UK’s Atmospheric Research Flying Activities’ Concluded the RAeS Heathrow Branch 2017/18 Lecture Season

On the 12th of April 2018, the Royal Aeronautical Society Heathrow Branch concluded the 2017/2018 lecture season at British Airways Head Office, Waterside. The season’s finale lecture, delivered by Dr Guy Gratton, Head of Airborne Science at the National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS), was entitled the ‘Past, Present and Future of atmospheric research flying in the UK’, which provided the audience with an overview of the nation’s pioneer atmospheric research flying – some of the biggest achievements, the future challenges as Britain goes into its second century of atmospheric research flying. The Royal Aeronautical Society Heathrow Branch announces the final branch lecture of 2017/18 season on Thursday, 12th April 2018, 18:15 hours at BA Waterside Theatre, British Airways Waterside Head Office, Harmondsworth UB7 0GA. This lecture is titled – “Past, Present and Future of Atmospheric Research Flying in the UK. The Branch will be welcoming Dr Guy Gratton, Head of Airborne Science & Technology at National Centre for Atmospheric Science to provide the audience with an overview of the national’s pioneer atmospheric research flying. RAeS Heathrow Branch Highlighted the Achievements of Silver City Airways in the Past 70 Years in March 2018 Lecture

On the 08th March 2018, the Royal Aeronautical Society Heathrow Branch welcomed Paul Ross for the penultimate lecture of the season. He gave a fascinating lecture on Silver City Airways and it’s achievements over the last 70 years, Paul Ross being the current chairman of the Silver City Association.

Grew out of the annual Silver City reunions that were held at Gatwick or in that area from 1977 onwards, the Silver City Association aims to keep alive the spirit of Silver City Airways that was so evident during the company’s halcyon days and has a membership of over 200 ex-Silver City employees and others involved with the Air Ferry, together with a growing band of Silver City enthusiasts.
