The RAeS Heathrow Branch circulates the selected list of September 2016 aviation events in the Southwest England area. Please be aware that the Royal Aeronautical Society nor the RAeS Heathrow Branch is the organiser of following events. Please contact the indicated organisers if you have any questions or queries. 04 September 2016, Sunday, Gatwick – Great Gatwick Hot Rod & Custom Show

The first-ever car show presented by American Autoparts is to be staged on Sunday September 4 at the Gatwick Aviation Museum, in Charlwood, Surrey, adjacent to Gatwick Airport. The event – The Great Gatwick Hot Rod & Custom Show – is an all-charity project in aid of the Museum, the Royal Air Force Benevolent Association and a local Council appeal to replace the village’s sports pavilion. 09 September 2016, Friday, Stockbridge – Museum of Army Aviation Event

The Museum of Army Flying holds a special lecture at Stockbridge Town Hall. Guest Speaker is world record breaker, adventure balloonist and author of ‘The Edge of Space’, Colin Prescot. A chance meeting with a hot-air balloon owning Afghan princess, hanging 300m below a helicopter in the Grand Canyon and breaking the World Record for a non-stop orbital flying machine: 17 days and 18 hours of endurance, surviving being sucked into a lethal thunderstorm over Central Thailand. 16–25 September 2016 – Southampton Boat Show 2016

The UK’s largest purpose-built Show marina in the late summer sunshine. This year’s Show is a festival of boating fun for all the family. Brand new attractions to enjoy, see and have a go at as well as much loved favourites. Mixed in with over 100s of exhibitors and 1000s of boats and brands this really is a festival of boating fun for everyone. There are so many ways to get out on the water, whether you are new to boating or an experienced sailor so buy now.

Running every September and now in its 8th year the Defence & Aerospace Tour visits prime sites such as BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, QinetiQ, GKN, Airbus, Selex and Thales. Roadshow visit dates, schedule may be liable to change, below:

05 October 2016, Wednesday, Swindon – Royal Aeronautical Society (RAES) Swindon Branch Lecture

Photon Power. The Rise and Rise of Laser Technology Prof Robert Eason. The Defence Academy Swindon Branch RAeS (DASRAeS) meet at The Defence Academy of the UK Shrivenham for a series of lectures held from October through May. RAeS Members Free. Friends of Branch £20 per lecture season. Some external visits incur an additional charge to cover transport and catering. Under 18’s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (also free entrance).
